The Night Before the Tournament: A FFTCG Christmas Poem

‘Twas the night before the tournament, and I laid in my bed.
I could not stop thinking about the cards in my head.
“Maybe I’ll build an Earth/Fire deck, I’ve got Jechts to spare”
“He only costs 1 CP, now how is that fair!”
All of a sudden, I heard a big crash!
Scared and confused, out of my room I did dash.
With a deck box raised in self defense, I creept slowly down each stair.
And to my surprise I saw Santa Claus sitting there!
“Why Santa, what are you doing in my living room?” I said to my guest.
He replied, “Thank goodness you’re up young man, I need to play test!”
I could not believe my ears, Santa wants to play FFTCG?
And not with his elves, he came to play against me!
We sat at my coffee table and I pulled out my deck.
Good thing I don’t have children because Santa was about to get wrecked.
I chose Mono Earth Prishe, because that deck is no slouch.
He pulled out Turbo Ice, and I sunk into my couch.
“You can’t play that deck, Thaumaturge and Gesper have been banned!”
“I am sorry young man, I just love destroying your hand”
“But I understand your concern, I will switch up my build”
He unbuttoned his jacket, revealing a shirt stating “Ya’ll got Milled”.
“Comon’ Santa, do you play anything that won’t mess with my head?”
“You’d think I’d play Mono Fire, but now you have to deal with my Al-Bhed”

Our match began, we both mulliganed our hands.
Suddenly he started throwing down back ups, like they were lands.
I matched his ramp, discarding Prishe’s as I played.
I watched his decisions closely, as mine were already made.
He amassed his forwards, but I could not commit.
Looking at his Leila and Viking, I feared Famfrit.
I finally played a Vanille, I was not too far behind.
I followed up with a WOL, for which answers to he could not find.
The game went back and forth for some time.
But his mill meant winning was quite a climb.
I had a swing turn with a cost-reduced Prishe.
But what happened next, on my worst enemy I wouldn’t wish.
Santa grinned from ear to ear like he just won the lotto.
And out of nowhere he played an off colour Shantotto.
I gasped out loud in disbelief.
Who would believe Santa would cause me such grief.
Before I knew it, he had decked me out.
But I was ready to challenge him to another bout.

When it was all said and done, we were both smiling.
We looked at each other and began shuffling by piling.
Because when you play FFTCG your spirit will never fall.
Go ahead and ask anyone, we have the best community of all!

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a happy holidays!
