The Mysidia Post's Opus IX Spoiler!

Hello Mysidians! Welcome back after a bit of break from Mysidia Post content. I have been pretty busy at work. In case you didn’t know, I am a high school teacher and right now it is end of year/report card season. I also recently went away for my bachelor party, and I am still feeling the consequences of my actions from that weekend. After this week things will settle down for me, and you can expect to see new content again each week.

Now its time for the reason I am writing this article… The Mysidia Post has a spoiler! When I first started writing this blog last year, I had several goals. One of these goals was to someday be considered for spoilers. When RB contacted me with the opportunity, I was so happy I honestly couldn’t stop smiling.

Now you may think that my spoiler is from Category IV, this being a FFIV heavy set, and my blog title coming from the iconic town from the same game. However, I ended up getting a Type-0 card, and I am very happy with the choice. You may not know this about me, but I am a massive Gundam fan, and have a collection Gunpla models in my office on display. Char is one of the most famous Gundam characters of all, and this card is his doppelganger!

Introducing…

Char Aznable

starring for the first time as...

Airborne Trooper!

Airborne Trooper is a 3 CP 8000 Power Ice Forward that reads: “Airborne Trooper cannot attack. When a Forward other than Airborne Trooper enters your field, Airborne Trooper loses all its abilities until the end of the turn.”. He is Category Type-0, and could possibly be Char, just look at his helmet and eyes!

This card is pretty cool, and I am very excited to try it out. He is above curve, so at 3 CP he can be used as an efficient blocker or in conjunction with any fight mechanic card such as 2 CP Hecatoncheir or Yojimbo. Every time you play another forward, this guy loses all abilities and can come in for some damage.

He can be searched by Arecia Al-Rashia, Brahne, Cid Haze, as well as by your girl Ysayle. That is 4 different elements of functionality. Now where I personally think this Zeon pilot might see play, is with the DGS Ice Package.

Using this package allows you to quickly play Forwards while searching more. The final part of the search chain in the DGS package is the DGS Trooper who boosts Airborne Trooper to become a 3 CP 10K.

Overall, I think this card is alright. It could be cool in limited as a blocker. I think if they really wanted to push the envelope with this card, they could have given it Brave, so that it can attack and still block for value. If Mono Ice or Ice/X Standard Units becomes a thing, I think this card could see some play.
Edit: Thanks to Tim Schilder for pointing out it would just lose Brave due to its ability anyway. I am a doofus ;).

And that’s it from me! What do you think of this card? I will definitely be looking for foils for Gundam related reasons. Did I miss any possible interactions or synergies? Let me know in the comments below. Finally, I want to say thank you to everyone that has supported the blog since it’s creation. I just hit 100 likes on Facebook, and I have to say, it feels good. Until next time!
